This Tuesday, the sad news of the death of American novelist Paul Auster at the age of 77 was known. According to reports in the New York Times, Auster died at his home in Brooklyn, New York, after a battle with lung cancer.
Born in 1947 in Newark, New Jersey, Auster stood out as one of the most influential writers of his generation. Known for works such as the ‘New York Trilogy’, ‘The Invention of Solitude’ and ‘City of Glass’, he built a literary work that captivated millions of readers around the world.
His books, translated into more than 40 languages, explore plots of fiction, reality and autobiography. In addition to novels, Auster ventured into poetry, stories, essays and cinema.
