Hidden for 30 years from the flyover he takes his revenge: found a laboratory hut 17 meters long and hundreds of finds

OLBIA. The Belveghile nuraghe takes its revenge. For over thirty years hidden under the reinforced concrete beams of an overpass of the ring road, built when the laws on safeguarding were very different from the current ones, the archaeological complex north of Olbia has just been affected by an important excavation campaign .

During the operation, which involved an area of 1000 square meters owned by Cipnes, they were found unpublished architectural structures and numerous finds which enrich the knowledge on the Nuragic civilization. Currently, 12 structures can be glimpsed, both circular and rectangular, which show a remarkable chronological, architectural and cultural diversification.

Specifically, it was decided to deepen the investigation of an apsidal hut 17 meters long, divided into several rooms and used for a long period of time for mainly craft activities, for example linked to the processing of leather and fabrics.

It is the first time that this type is found in northern Sardinia. More than 100 stone and terracotta tools of various shapes and sizes have been recovered here: mortars, pestles, ceramic smoothers of great scientific interest, plus numerous ceramic containers. The Regional Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture for Sardinia has allocated 300 thousand euros for the excavation campaign of the Belveghile, part of a total funding of 1 million euros. The rest of the funds will be used with the aim of making the site usable.
