In July two years ago, Mayor Leoluca Orlando had been summoned to the prosecutor’s office as a witness in the investigation into the chaos at the Rotoli cemetery: to the deputy prosecutor Francesca Mazzocco he had illustrated a path to get out of the emergency. At the time, there were 500 unburied coffins. Today, there are almost 900, an unsustainable situation. And the mayor of Palermo is no longer just an “informed witness of the facts”: the prosecutor directed by Francesco Lo Voi investigated him for omission of official documents.
