New appointment with the “ecological Sundays”, the area of ​​the old city will be forbidden to motor vehicles

Belluno. Second appointment of 2022, at the weekend, with ecological Sundays, the measure provided for by the anti-smog ordinance in force in the capital which provides, among other things, the commitment, for Municipalities with a population greater than thirty thousand inhabitants, to organize a Ecological Sunday per month for the period from 1 October to 30 April of each year. The measure is included in the agreement of the Po Valley, to which numerous municipalities adhere with the aim of combating atmospheric pollution caused by the circulation of cars.

On Sunday, therefore, from 9 to 19 the circulation of all motor vehicles in the historic center will be prohibited. The affected area is the one accessed from via Loreto and via Garibaldi and which also includes piazza dei Martiri, via Roma, via Simon da Cusighe – up to the intersection with via Gabelli -, and the whole area that includes the city old.

Cars, motorbikes and mopeds will not be able to circulate throughout this area. The parking lots of Lambioi, the Metropolis, the one at the ex Moi, the one in Piazza Piloni and the Caffi, just to mention the main parking areas of the city, remain free to access.

Electric vehicles, those of people resident or domiciled in the old city area, vehicles for the handicapped, emergency and service vehicles are exempt from the ban.

The invitation, says the Municipality, is to consider the initiative as an opportunity to contain pollution from PM10 and, above all, to experience a different way of experiencing the city.

After the one scheduled, there are two more ecological Sundays to mark on the calendar. The subsequent events are in fact scheduled for Sunday 20 March and Sunday 3 April, with the same rules and traffic restrictions.
