Spring farming in full swing in China
The spring equinox is approaching, and spring plowing and production in China are in full swing from south to north, with spring sowing and management advancing in an orderly manner.
According to the latest agricultural situation dispatch from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 2.4% of spring sowing has been completed nationwide, with more than 30% of early rice seedlings raised in the south and winter wheat in the Huanghuaihai Sea region fully turning green.
This year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has integrated green prevention and control into unified prevention and control services. The unified prevention and control of three major staple food diseases and insect pests will cover 1.03 billion acres, increasing the green prevention and control coverage rate by 2 percentage points.
During this critical period for the prevention and control of wheat diseases, insect pests, and weeds, provinces like Anhui, Hebei, Shandong, and Jiangsu have launched green prevention and control campaigns, incorporating new technologies and models to combat pests and diseases effectively.
In light of the potential increase in diseases and insect pests affecting wheat this year, provinces like Shandong have implemented subsidy funds for the prevention and control of major wheat diseases and insect pests, promoting green prevention and control strategies.
In Jiangsu, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department and supply and marketing cooperatives have invested special funds to promote green and efficient agricultural inputs like organic fertilizers. Liaoning, on the other hand, is providing farmers with one-stop agricultural socialization services through the supply and marketing cooperative system.
With 89.3% of first- and second-grade winter wheat seedlings already turning green, and the area of spring sown grain expected to increase steadily, China is well on track for a successful spring farming season.
