orphans of leaders

The unfortunate spectacle of Laura and Benedetti has served to convince us that there is no leader on either the right or the left to guide the country. We are orphans of leadership and, what is worse, neither the president has a team or ministers who come out to defend him, nor does the opposition have spokesmen with national criteria who escape from the unfading siege of revenge. The loneliness of the president is abysmal.

It has only withstood the storm. To signify it, he made a tweet with her daughter laughing at what the public could be thinking of a president in the face of such a crisis. The laziness of the opposition leaders, now briefly called “the right” is just as negative as the presidential solitude.

The storm that erupted with Benedetti’s audios was not even used by the left to shut down support for Petro due to the disloyalties of two of its officials, let alone the right to highlight Petro’s administrative uselessness, which is not capable of resolving a confrontation among subordinates.

After 72 hours, Petro’s supporters reacted and the chorus was led by the foreign minister so that those who now assume the defense would repeat it, even if it contained a contradiction: “Benedetti cannot be believed because he is a drug addict,” said the old man from the tribe.

But neither on one side nor on the other do they accuse the secretary, promoted to super minister without appointment, of having been the one who could have provided Benedetti’s audios to her cell phone because her voice is never heard.

And both for Petro’s supporters and his opponents, the president’s inability to know how to choose his collaborators was obvious or a reason for debate.

There we are then. Petro with a perratiated image of a bad ruler, Fico as a macho presenting an inquiry to the Chamber instead of an accusation for unworthiness to hold office and the others, left-handed and right-handed, watching from afar if Petro falls but no one pushes him to roll and they don’t hold it up so it doesn’t fall.
