THE VETERINARY COMMISSION
The visits were carried out yesterday morning in Pra ‘del Moro without hitches by the commission composed of Dr. Marco Pepe and Dr. Iacopo Secco. «This is the third year we have come and the good thing is that the level of horses in our opinion has risen a lot, both in terms of quality and health. In the end, this is our goal ”, comments Secco. «There can be accidents along the way and you can always try to do better, but we are very happy. The horses are overall in order, we hope that Port’Oria will be able to remedy and find a solution to the problem. We hope that everything ends in the best possible way and that they can race with two horses ».
By regulation, the commission can review the horse this morning with the judgment pending, to assess whether it was a condition linked to the trip. If not, veterinarians are available to visit another horse if necessary. “Compared to the first year, the relationship with the neighborhoods is also more linear,” adds Marco Pepe. “They too have understood what we expect to find as a commission, they have paid attention to us and have brought horses of a certainly higher quality than those of previous years”.
CAVALLI
The one to beat is Red Riu del Castello, winner of the last two consecutive editions of the race, also ridden by Adrian Topalli. The pair of the rampant lion is completed by Tiepolo mounted by Alessio Migheli (Sultano reserve). The Duomo relies on Umatilla mounted by Giovanni Atzeni and Zenia Zoe mounted by Carlo Sanna (Zeniossu reserve). For Santo Stefano, Ugo Ricotta and Ubert Spy (Antelios reserve) mounted by Dino Pes and Andrea Chessa. Port’Oria has had the go-ahead for Benito Baio, pending the second check on Socrates.
