The Chocoan Paola Andrea Vásquez Restrepo was appointed as general secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after the departure of José Antonio Salazar, declared unsubsistent by President Petro.
Paola Andrea is a native of Carmen de Atrato, a public accountant with a specialization in senior management.
She has been working as Foreign Relations Counselor at the Colombian Embassy in the United States, but on December 14, 2023, a ruling by the Council of State determined to “declare the nullity of decree 2280 of November 22, 2022, by which provisionally, Mrs. Paola Andrea Vásquez Restrepo in the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, assigned to the Embassy of Colombia to the Government of the United States of America.”
Vásquez Restrepo was a private secretary during Murillo’s administration as governor of Chocó in 2012. Then, in 2014, she was an advisor to Todos Somos Pacífico, when Murillo Urrutia was the manager.
Now, Vásquez is once again close to Murillo Urrutia, while he serves his temporary period as acting chancellor.
