FROST. In Gela, the relatives of a 74-year-old patient who died of Covid-19 damaged an ambulance and beat the 118 operators who had gone to help their relative. It happened in the late afternoon in via Lecce, where the “Charlie 6” crew had gone for the rescue. The operators would arrive on site in 10 minutes. But it ended badly. The patient died and the family members broke the windows and windshields of the vehicle and beat the operators. One of them, the rescue driver, whose glasses were also broken, was punched in the face and is now in the emergency room of the Vittorio Emanuele hospital.
The ambulance at the moment – one of the two that provide help in Gela – is in technical stop to be repaired. The police are identifying those responsible. Now, if needed, it will be necessary to wait for the arrival of an ambulance from Niscemi or Butera to replace the faulty one. All this at a time when the city has almost a thousand positives.
