The Communist Party of China has made significant decisions during the fifth meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference held in Beijing. According to a report by the Xinhua News Agency, several high-ranking officials have been removed from their positions within the party.
Huang Lixin, the director and party secretary of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, has resigned as a member of the 14th National Committee. Additionally, “Comrade Zhang Xiaoming” has been removed from the position of deputy secretary-general of the committee. The qualifications of Wu Yansheng, Liu Shiquan, Wang Changqing, and Wang Xiaojun as members of the committee have also been revoked.
The four individuals who were disqualified from the CPPCC are all prominent members of the Chinese Communist Party’s military. Wu Yansheng, an academician of the International Academy of Space Sciences, served as chairman and party secretary of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. Liu Shiquan, a researcher, previously held leadership positions in the China Ordnance Industry Group Co., Ltd. Wang Changqing and Wang Xiaojun, both with engineering backgrounds, held senior positions in aerospace companies.
Analysts speculate that these individuals may have been implicated in the Rocket Force corruption case, as President Xi Jinping’s government continues to crack down on corruption within the military industry system. The removal of Zhang Xiaoming, who has been responsible for Hong Kong and Macao affairs for many years, has also raised suspicion. Despite the announcement referring to him as “comrade,” his whereabouts have not been disclosed.
Members of Hong Kong’s pro-establishment political parties and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference have refrained from commenting on Zhang Xiaoming’s dismissal, stating that they are not aware of the details or his potential new work arrangements.
