Peru’s categorical rejection

In his message, Gervasi expressed his “more categorical rejection of the recent and repeated interventionist, irresponsible and ideological statements” by López Obrador and Petro, and accused them of insisting “on ignoring the coup d’état perpetrated” by Castillo “and the legitimate and constitutional succession” of Boluarte which, he said, “has been widely recognized by the international community.”

He also considered that the position of the two rulers “also shows an evident interest in misrepresenting reality, with the apparent purpose of hiding the internal governance problems that both face in their respective countries.”

“Mr. Petro’s particular references to the (general) National Prosecutor of Peru, in addition to being untrue, are a clear demonstration of his non-recognition of the independence and constitutional autonomy of the Prosecutor’s Offices within the framework of a system democratic”held.

Regarding López Obrador’s position before the Pacific Alliance, he considered that “it is a manifestation of the level of negligence with which he guides his actions abroad, which affects the most successful integration process in recent times and, even worse, to the needs of its population.

The Peruvian foreign minister said that “the arguments alluded to” by López Obrador for not handing over the pro tempore Presidency “show folly and a biased vision” and accused him of “obstructing and stopping the work of the Pacific Alliance.”

Gervasi noted that “countries that do not wish to work within the framework of the Alliance should consider suspending their participation in this mechanism, thus allowing it to continue advancing with those of us who are committed to its founding principles and objectives.”

“Finally, Peru reiterates that Mr. López’s refusal to hand over to Peru the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Pacific Alliance constitutes a breach of an international obligation by Mexico, which may lead to international responsibility for said State.”he concluded.
