The parties request the governments of Cuba, the Kingdom of Norway and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for their good offices in the development of the process.

The National Government and the Second Marquetalia armed organization announced the formal start of a process of “sociopolitical dialogues” that will lead to the signing of a peace agreement.

The announcement was made through a statement signed by the high commissioner for peace, Otty Patiño Hormaza; the commander of the Second Marquetalia, Iván Márquez, and the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Colombia, Carlos Martínez Mendoza.

In the document they refer to the “immediate” development of “previous agreements for the de-escalation of the conflict and implementation of transformations for the social and environmental construction of the territory, definition of the agenda and negotiation protocols.”

They also request the governments of Cuba, Norway and Venezuela for their good offices in the development of the process.

And they ask for the support of the special representative of the secretary general of the United Nations in Colombia and the Episcopal Conference of Colombia.

“We express our interest in promoting the formation of border zones of peace, in which new economies, non-predatory relationships with nature and the environment are stimulated, the rights of the population in general and ethnic peoples in general are respected and guaranteed. particular, and promote integration and fraternity between sister peoples and border nations,” the statement says.
