Petro has already arrived in Pereira

President Gustavo Petro and Vice President Francia Márquez have arrived at the Cuban Coliseum in Pereira, after their tour of Manizales. There, they were greeted by a crowd that included representatives of different organizations, Governor Juan Diego Patiño, and prominent members of the local community. The visit is part of the “Government with Popular Neighborhoods” program, an initiative aimed at addressing the needs and concerns of the most vulnerable communities.

Among the issues that are expected to be addressed during the visit is the Government’s commitment to the La Esneda neighborhood and other risk areas in the region. The critical point is the La Esneda neighborhood since the governor hopes that the promises they have made to the inhabitants of the sector will be fulfilled, specifically the relocation announced by the Duque government, after the tragedy occurred in February 2022. It is expected May President Petro take advantage of the opportunity to fulfill the promises made by previous administrations and to hear first-hand the concerns and needs of the inhabitants of these areas.

The presence of the president and vice president at the Cuban Coliseum represents an important step in the Government’s commitment to addressing inequalities and improving living conditions in the popular neighborhoods of Pereira and other regions of the country. It is expected that this meeting will result in concrete actions that benefit the communities most in need and that reinforce the Government’s commitment to equity and social justice.
