Plane loses front landing gear during takeoff

A plane from the state airline Satena lost its front landing gear this Wednesday while preparing to take off from the airport on the Colombian island of San Andrés, the country’s Civil Aeronautics reported.

4 crew members and 45 passengers were on board the ATR 42 that covered the San Andrés route to the island of Providencia. “All occupants left the aircraft safely and no injuries were reported,” the aeronautical authority said.

“Civil Aeronautics is carrying out coordination efforts to expedite the removal of the aircraft” from the runway, the statement said, adding that an investigation will be carried out to determine the causes of the event.
