On June 11, 2022, the bodies of Anita (57), her son Wesley (23) and housemate Rikki (47) were found at home in Zavelstraat in Kessel-Lo. The three had been stabbed to death. With the last of his strength, Rikki was able to call the emergency services. When they arrived, Rikki had also died. There was no trace of the perpetrator(s).
The perpetrator or perpetrators of the murder in Zavelstraat in Kessel-Lo probably ran away from the scene through the backyards and woods, according to the police. That escape route leads to the Heidebloempad and the Bovenloweg.
A man was walking on the Bovenloweg around the time of the incident. He has a white complexion, is of sturdy build and has short-shaven hair. He walks with a brisk step. He has a black discoloration on the inside of his right forearm, possibly a tattoo.
He wore dark trousers, a dark jacket with rolled-up sleeves and light-colored sneakers with a black drawing in the center of the side and the back and also a small reflective piece at the back. He was also wearing dark headphones.
The first cyclist rode through Zavelstraat around 2 a.m., coming from Platte Lostraat. The second cyclist followed the same route not much later.
Around 3.30 am a third cyclist rode through Zavelstraat to the intersection with Wolvenstraat. The man then turned around, looked at his mobile phone and drove back through Zavelstraat.
