The operation, carried out by units of the FENIX group, was deployed in the race 1 with street 2 of the city. During a routine observation post, officers identified a Mazda CX5 brand car. However, when verifying its data, discrepancies were found in the identification plate, as well as in the chassis and engine numbers, which had been adulterated.

Given this evidence, the owner of the vehicle was arrested and placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office for the crime of trademark falsification. Simultaneously, an investigation was launched to determine if the car had been reported stolen in the city of Bogotá during the previous year.

Colonel Alexander Castillo Marín, Commander of the Neiva Metropolitan Police, made a called on citizens to exercise caution when purchasing a used vehicle. He strongly recommended that before making any purchase, the car’s identification systems be verified through the technicians of the Criminal Investigation Section. This measure, assured the colonel, allows us to know the history of the vehicle and detect possible irregularities or adulterations, thus avoiding situations of legal and economic risk for buyers.
