The Dutch police have distributed impressive images of a chase from Essen to Eindhoven. The chase dates back to about a year and a half ago, when a man kidnapped his ex. The man has now been convicted.
The facts date from Wednesday, August 17, 2023. A woman living in the Netherlands was visiting her parents in Essen when her ex suddenly showed up. He pulled a knife, threatened the woman and her parents and forced the woman to come with him.
The local police and the Dutch police were notified and they immediately started the pursuit. As soon as the man realized he was being chased, he started driving at very high speed and performed several life-threatening maneuvers on the highway.
The chase eventually ended when the driver went wrong-way on the A50 near Eindhoven and the police caught him. The man was arrested and appeared in court in the Netherlands. At the beginning of this month, he was sentenced to 240 hours of community service and a prison sentence of 120 days, of which 75 were conditional. The man was also banned from driving for six months and must pay 1,500 euros in compensation to the victim.
