The US-China Perception Monitor website recently published the results of the first batch of regular polls conducted by the Carter Center and the investigative agency RIWI to assess the Chinese public’s perception of the United States.
A total of 3,391 domestic Internet users in China were interviewed this time, and the questionnaire contained only two questions.
The first question is to evaluate the Chinese people’s attitude towards the United States. The interviewees were asked to answer “very positive”, “positive”, “negative”, or “very negative”.
Among them, 18% of the respondents said their views on the United States were “very positive”, 19% of the respondents said their views on the United States were “positive”, 29% were “negative” and 33% were Means “very negative”.
The second question assesses how Chinese citizens view China’s international image and also chooses to answer “very good”, “good”, “not good” or “very bad”.
Among them, 46% of the interviewees said they think China’s international image is “very good”, 32% of the interviewees say “good”, and the proportions of “bad” and “very bad” are 7% and “very bad” respectively. 11% and 4% of respondents refused to answer.

Liu Yawei, a senior adviser on China issues at the Carter Center, said that their cooperation with RIWI completed the survey online in less than a week and reached approximately 3,000 respondents.

The Carter Center is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife in 1982.
