The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, will participate in the inauguration of the elected president of the Republic of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo de León, which will take place next Sunday, January 14. The president will also develop a busy agenda of meetings and bilateral meetings during his stay in the Central American country.
The presidential motorcade will depart this Friday, January 12, at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, January 13, the agenda will begin early in the morning, with a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China – Taiwan, Joseph Wu, at the Westin Camino Real Hotel.
Subsequently, the president will hold a meeting with the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Jorge Britz Abularach, and will then meet with the President-Elect of the Republic of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo de León.
In the afternoon, President Peña will participate in the official greeting of the Heads of Delegation to the current Constitutional President of the Republic of Guatemala, Dr. Alejandro Giammattei Falla, which will take place in the Banderas Hall of the National Palace of Culture.
The agenda continues on Sunday the 14th, since in the morning a meeting is planned between President Peña and the President of the Chamber of Industry, Raul Buscayrol. Next, he will hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Belize, Juan Antonio Briceño. Then, around noon, he will have meetings with Josep Borrell Fontelles, high representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and with the President of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo.
In the afternoon, starting at 3:00 p.m., the second phase of the Solemn Session of the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala will take place, with the oath and inauguration of Mr. Bernardo Arévalo de León as President of the Republic of Guatemala and Mrs. Karin Herrera Aguilar, as Vice President, in the Great Efraín Recinos Room of the Miguel Ángel Asturias Cultural Center.
Next, the Official Greeting will be given to the Constitutional President of the Republic of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo de León, and Karin Herrera Aguilar, as Constitutional Vice President of the Republic of Guatemala, by the Heads of Delegation, chaired by Heads of State and Government, on the Stage of the Great Efraín Recinos Hall of the National Palace of Culture. At the end of these protocol acts, President Santiago Peña and his delegation will return to the country around 7:00 p.m.
