This Friday, the Togolese Football Federation held its ordinary annual congress to take stock of its annual activities. Among the personalities invited is Dr Lidi Bessi Kama, Minister of Sports and Recreation. Asked about the concern expressed by certain actors on the process of professionalization of Togolese football, the patroness of sport in Togo reassures everyone.

For the past few days, the word professionalization has been the word most used by round leather lovers in Togo. This process initiated to bring Togolese football out of amateurism into professionalism is the most ardent wish of the Togolese government. As the Minister of Sports and Recreation Dr Lidi Bessi Kama points out to us here “Me, I want to see the former players live easily, live on social security, have a retirement account, live from their art. And that is the wish of the Head of State and of the entire Togolese government. This is what we are striving to professionalize Togolese football. For you journalists, there is a strong gain to be had from this professionalization. We have to go there and with the help of all, we will succeedshe said. The boss of sport in Togo did not miss the opportunity to reassure all those who are still slow to join the project “We believe that the unknown is always scary. And I know one thing from the functions that I have had to occupy so far that there is one thing that must be remembered, who dares, wins. What we have never experienced, we always have apprehensions. I will reassure them that this reform is only a reform that we ourselves sons and actors of Togolese sport and that if we go towards that, after a year, we can redo the foundations to better understand and improve. And not doing so will delay us further. I invite all actors to take this big step that will free us. This step that will give social security to all our players, to all the actors“, she added.

One thing is clear the dice are cast and nothing can stop this process of professionalization of football in Togo.
