Public housing, ranking after 16 years – breaking latest news

PONTECAGNANO FAIANO. Ten years ago the last supplementary notice. Sixteen years before the last useful ranking. From today, the 108 waiting for a council house will be able to smile. Because the Municipality of Pontecagnano has officially published the final ranking of those admitted. It is a door that finally opens, that of new homes reserved for families in difficulty and with a total annual income of less than 14 thousand euros. An exhausting wait.
Since 2019, the year in which the announcement was published, the 108 Pontecagnanesi were waiting for an answer. Which has now arrived for all those who were unable to bear the costs of a rent or even buy an apartment. The social housing units reserved for them are divided as follows: 70, owned by the Authority of via Maria Antonio Alfani, located in the locality of “Sant’Antonio” in via Sandro Pertini, and the remainder built in various areas of the city as via Verdi, via Po, via Cavalleggeri, via Pellico, via Conforti, via Vittorio Emanuele and via Piave.
Still, someone doesn’t smile. The first provincial commission for the assignment of public residential housing, in the minutes published last June 30, also announced those excluded from the assignment. There are 27, in total, those who have not been included in this special ranking. And the reasons? Disparate. There are those who have only attached the first side of the application, those who have exceeded the income limit provided for by the announcement, those who registered the application late, those in possession of expired documents, still others have omitted some points provided for by the announcement of competition dating back to October 28, 2019. And now there is no more time to fix it. It will eventually be necessary to wait for a new call. The final ranking, which at the bottom bears the signatures of the secretary and the president of the commission, respectively Vincenzo Baratta e Vittorio Perillo, will be published for thirty consecutive days on the praetorian notice board of the Municipality. And workers who have emigrated abroad will be notified of the notice by post.
A procedure to solve the housing problems in Pontecagnano that residents had been waiting for for years, in order to avoid the outbreak of social conflicts, and which began in 2015, when the municipal administration at the time led by Ernesto Sica submits an application to the Campania Region as part of the program for the recovery and rationalization of buildings and public housing units prepared in July.
The Campania Region, in 2016, during the first years of the De Luca government, gave the green light, and financed the construction of 48 social housing in via Pertini for about 1.15 million euros. Money that the Picentino Authority is used for seismic adjustments, for the removal of architectural barriers and for energy efficiency. Construction will begin 12 months later.
Then the leadership of the municipality arrived Giuseppe Lanzara. At the end of 2019, the new call is published, along with a provisional ranking of those entitled to vote. Then Covid came to stop everything and upset the plans. Now, however, the ranking has given a smile to the 108 waiting families. When the houses are vacated, they will be allocated public housing, and almost at no cost. Public housing will be at their disposal. The work could be completed with the renovation and maintenance that the buildings await, by virtue of the peripheral location of the houses that would help make the entire area more liveable.
