CASTELFRANCO. The memory of a fraternal friend, of a person who has made himself loved by everyone and who will not be forgotten: yesterday in the cathedral of Castelfranco the last farewell was given to Marco Innocente, the 22-year-old young man from Salvarosa struck down a week ago from a fulminant meningitis: a choice, that of the cathedral instead of the church of Salvarosa, made in reference to the many people who would have liked to gather around his family, his mother Sabina, his father Dennis, his sister Sara, his grandparents Anna and Adelino: and in fact, in addition to the cathedral, many people also crowded the churchyard, despite the pouring rain shortly after the light-colored wooden coffin had entered the church.

Above the family’s flower pillow and his Virtus Castelfranco shirt, the five-a-side football team where Marco played: on the altar the flowers of the Milan Clubs with which he followed his favorite team to the stadium (Monday evening on the occasion of Milan- Bologna at San Siro will also be exposed a banner in his memory) and those of his peers.

The funeral was presided over by the parish priest of Salvarosa don Domenico Pilotto, and concelebrated by monsignor Dionisio Salvadori and don Alberto Piasentin, respectively parish priest and vicar of the cathedral of Castelfranco. Among those present the mayor Stefano Marcon, the deputy mayor Marica Galante, the municipal councilors Lorenzo Zurlo and Giovanni Cattapan, who knew Marco.

At the beginning of the celebration, the word was given to friends who recalled the many happy moments spent together and Marco’s “oddities”: that of being perpetually late and the endless waits in the parking lots but also the carbonara pasta eaten together: “We will always remember you with your smile on your face.”

Even the former students of the 5A of Liceo Giorgione wanted to tell about Marco, the fateful year of maturity, also here with the affection, sincerity and funny irony of people who love each other: of his jokes (“ugly, let’s face it Marco “) of his” passion “for Greek (” enough to study it even in the summer “, said in reference to not exactly brilliant performances), his passion for Milan and for fantasy football. Memories that concerned a light person but never banal especially in the relationship with others: “We will always remember you, every day with the unmistakable sound of your laugh”, they concluded by giving Marco one last ball.

Words that were underlined by a great applause, such as the one who welcomed the coffin outside the church and who stayed for a long time in the churchyard before setting off for the cremation: a moment of great emotion in which everyone gathered around a family struck by a tragedy that is still inexplicable today.
