There was probably a wolf attack on a flock of sheep in Redderstorf near Bad Sülze (Western Pomerania-Rügen district). 16 sheep were killed.
Three animals in the herd also had to be euthanized because of their serious injuries. Shepherd Ingo Stoll told NDR that at least fifteen other animals were injured in the attack. According to Stoll, this is the largest wolf tear he has ever experienced. His herd in Reddersdorf had already been attacked by a wolf twice before – in January and most recently shortly before Easter.
Sensational actions
After the attacks, Stoll called for a wolf to be shot down quickly. According to him, the sheep that were last killed were properly protected with an electric fence. In case of doubt, wolves would come over the fences or possibly under them. Stoll has repeatedly drawn attention to his concerns with sensational actions, such as when he recently led around 400 animals across a federal highway near Stralsund. In 2021 he brought dead sheep to downtown Stralsund in protest against what he saw as a lack of support against wolves.

In mid-March, the wolf was included in hunting law in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. However, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, there is no change in the protection status of the predator. According to the authority, the shooting of a wolf must still be examined on a case-by-case basis.
