Two people died, and a third was injured, in a road accident on the Mesagne-Torre Santa Susanna provincial road, in the Brindisi area. Two cars were involved and collided head-on. The injured person was transferred to the hospital under code red. Firefighters are working on site. Local police officers are carrying out investigations. There are also carabinieri and police officers on site.
The victims are a 20-year-old from the province of Taranto and an 18-year-old from Brindisi: they were both traveling aboard a Fiat Grande Punto which collided with a BMW driven by the 32-year-old who was injured and taken to the Perrino hospital in Brindisi. After the impact the Fiat ended up crumpled in an olive grove. The stretch affected by the accident on the provincial road is currently closed to traffic.
