Johann Lafer is definitely a well-known television face. But appearing in front of the camera as an actor is new territory for the celebrity. Now he was filming on the “Rote Rosen” set in Lüneburg.

The people of Lüneburg welcome Johann Lafer to the “Carlas” restaurant with applause. The star chef takes a seat at a table and invites you to an autograph session. The scene that took place on the set of “Rote Rosen” is filmed is very similar to Johann Lafer’s real life. “I have a simple role, I just play myself,” says Lafer. But it’s not that simple after all.

Johann Lafer plays himself. He is also allowed to give autographs in the series “Rote Rosen”. Lafer is impressed: “Red Roses” production on the assembly line

An episode of “Rote Rosen” lasts 49 minutes and the same amount is produced in one day of filming. This workload impressed Johann Lafer. “It’s almost like being in a factory here. I’m afraid that my inability will hold up the whole production,” says Lafer in the mask. Acting is new territory for him. He once appeared on “Praxis Bülowbogen” 25 years ago, but since then he has only appeared in front of the camera as a television chef. “It’s probably been done 5,000 times,” says Lafer.

Johann Lafer as a valued fellow actor

But the chef doesn’t cut a bad figure as an actor either. “It’s nice that he also has his own punchlines,” says Maurice Pawlewski about the interaction. The actor is training to be a chef in his role as Marvin Köpcke. He clashes with Johann Lafer in the series – but the two obviously get along well on set.

Series kitchen is not a professional kitchen

Maria Fuchs, who plays the series cook Carla Saravakos, also has a lot of praise for Johann Lafer after two days of filming. He admires the conditions under which an actress has to cook in the series. He couldn’t find any plates in the entire kitchen. “And then you have to look at everything here carefully, because a lot of the food is not real, but plastic,” observes Lafer. “We already cook with real food,” replies Maria Fuchs. However, usually only with simple vegetables, such as cucumbers or peppers.

The kitchen of Carla Saravakos, played by Maria Fuchs, is not really suitable for cooking and only has three walls. Ex-star chef Lafer is amused: Only rancid oil on the set

When the two of them prepared a quick snack after filming, it was clear to Johann Lafer: He couldn’t cook a star-rated meal like that here. “The olive oil is rancid!” he remarks with a loud laugh. No wonder, says Maria Fuchs. The oil is also a prop and has probably been on the shelf for five years. But luckily there is also fresh olive oil on set so that the snack is a success at the end.

“Rote Rosen”: Episodes with Lafer will be broadcast in May

Another star guest, Johann Lafer, made his acting debut with the “Rote Roses”. The episodes with him are expected to be shown on Das Erste in mid-May.
