Russian security services said Friday they have arrested three “residents of a Central Asian country” who planned to carry out a bomb attack in southwestern Russia, a week after an attack on a concert hall near Moscow killed more than 140 had cost people their lives.

In a press release cited by Russian news agencies, the FSB said it had “put an end to the terrorist activities of three residents of a Central Asian country who intended to commit a terrorist act through a device in a public place in the Stavropol region to detonate.”
Russian television broadcast images showing several men being held between cars by FSB officers. According to state news agency Ria Novosti, parts for making an improvised explosive device and chemical substances were found in the suspects’ home.
