Salvini’s trip to Moscow, questioning of the Democratic Party to the EU Commission

To ascertain whether Matteo Salvini’s planned trip to Moscow – and then canceled – constitutes a violation of the European Union sanctions against Russia and, if so, to verify which measures are intended to be applied to pursue this conduct. It is the main objective of a question presented to the European Commission by Pina Picierno and Pierfrancesco Majorino. “The trip was eventually canceled – the two MEPs observe in a note – but it is clear that the leader of a ruling party that has supported the introduction of sanctions against the Kremlin, who plans to go to Moscow at the expense of the Kremlin , with unclear and ambiguous reasons, represents a serious threat to the security of Italy and the entire European Union, since the trip is planned without the support of Italian intelligence ».
On 11 June – the note continues – the Russian embassy in Italy reported that it “assisted Matteo Salvini and the people who accompanied him in the purchase of airline tickets for a trip to the Russian capital on May 29”. This is a very serious fact that “takes the form of a clear political signal of the link between the Russian regime and the Lega party which is part of the Italian government” concluded Picierno and Majorino. For this reason, the question is asked whether the Commission was aware of everything that had happened.
