San Giorgio, homage to Grazia Deledda, in music the tales of the Nobel prize-winning writer

Debut at the Belloc di San Giorgio theater for the performance of The Voices of Time, Mario Congiu and Marco Peroni

SAN GIORGIO CANAVESE. It will be the Belloc Theater of San Giorgio, on Tuesday 8, at 21, to welcome Grazia, the latest work of The Voices of Time (Mario Congiu and Marco Peroni), on its stage, an acoustic show with original songs composed for the occasion, which concert the stories of the writer Grazia Deledda, the first Italian woman to receive the Nobel, in 1926.

An emblematic show, on the occasion of Women’s Day, the genesis of which Congiu says thus: “While like everyone I am forced to stay at home, trying to keep myself away from information, I come across an artist of international renown and yet, at the same time, from many forgotten. Grace Deledda. I can no longer stop reading her novels and her stories, which are hundreds of them. And this brings me to the landscapes of Sardinia that I miss, to the simple stories that help me and revive the desire to write. It is the stories themselves, especially the short ones, which after a while seem to suggest me to become songs, and I convince myself to try, to get to work as a craftsman does, at least one verse and one refrain a day ». «Then – he continues – together with Marco Peroni, we built the show. Above all, hoping to do something that Deledda would have liked: to honor her work simply by making her listen ». «In the long months we spent indoors – Peroni remembers – after more than ten years running up and down Italy, Mario and I began to study each on his behalf. No concerts on the balconies, no online concerts, so much silence. We made parallel paths and we discovered that they were parallel later. I, too, immediately called myself out of the news, in search of a little elsewhere, perhaps that “teaching of innocence” of our grandparents, as Amerigo Vigliermo calls it ».
