After many months remained covered due to the presence of the scaffolding, the baroque facade of the ancient church of Santa Marta has returned to be admired. A church dating back to 1597, symbol of the town together with the 11th century Porta Maggiore Tower in the town’s main square. Satisfied the restorer, Cinzia Avanzi di Romano, as satisfied the citizens seem, judging by the many positive comments published in recent days on social media.
“We have worked hard, under the supervision of the Superintendence of Architectural Heritage of Piedmont, with good results – explained Cinzia Avanzi, who had already worked on the restoration of the bell tower -. The works concerned the wall of the fine Baroque Church of Santa Marta, with the recovery of the original coloring in pink, golden yellow and ivory, integrating coloring and shades ». The end of the restoration work by 2021 was in fact one of the conditions to be respected in order to receive 162 thousand euros in contributions, divided as follows: 55.800 euros granted by the 8 per thousand of the CEI, 28 thousand euros by the Crt Foundation, 78.375 by the Mibact (Ministry of and cultural activities and tourism). This important result has been achieved but, to cover the entire expense which amounts to 338 thousand euros considering the total of the extraordinary maintenance works of the ancient baroque church of Santa Marta, there are still almost 90 thousand euros that could require the use of a loan from part of the parish. In fact, the complete restoration of the façade (building works and restoration of the artistic parts, including the numerous glazed terracotta vases of various sizes, of the tympanum and the more numerous ones of the small balustrade) involved a total cost of about 137 thousand EUR. However, the maintenance work of Santa Marta also concerned the roof for a cost of 185 thousand euros, and the bell tower, which in turn cost 15 thousand euros, for a total of an additional 200 thousand euros, which bring the overall financial commitment to 338 thousand euros. indicated in the last summary of the works made public by the parish priest Don Davide Rossetto. sandro ronchetti
