SAPRI – A cry of alarm comes from the ‘Immacolata’ hospital, which has long since lacked the medical staff necessary for the proper functioning of the Cardiology Department and Coronary Unit. An issue that needs to be addressed in the best possible way to make the Department, of vital importance for the entire hospital structure, fully efficient. It is essential a close recruitment of medical staff at the Department of Cardiology and Coronary Unit within which it is not possible to carry out shifts for the whole day.
In fact, at night the guard in Cardiology is guaranteed by the anesthetist on duty with the collaboration of the available Cardiologist, in order to guarantee the correct functioning of the Department. The cry of alarm starts from the CISL FP delegate of the Sapri Hospital, Gerardo Paradiso who, after a careful analysis of the matter, withdrew that the «Department has no future and that the closure will take place due to consumption. Without a decisive intervention by the strategic management of the Salerno ASL with an extraordinary recruitment of cardiologists – Paradiso later stated – the hope that cardiology activities can continue in the hospital are less and less. At night and on holidays, only two nurses guard the facility with resuscitator and cardiologist on call. An exceptional organization that cannot hold up for a long time, with the risk of serious downsizing of activities. Action is taken with concrete measures – Paradiso finally commented – before it is too late ». A situation of serious shortage on which the Health Director of the Saprese hospital Rocco Calabrese has also pointed out several times.
