Save 15 percent electricity with a balcony power plant – is that really possible?

Sounds great, but it’s not always the case. According to the German Network Agency, meaningful savings can only be made in a normal household with a very large, perfectly aligned balcony system that is not shaded by trees or other houses. The balcony system then generates up to 15 percent of the electricity required in the household.

However, there is no more possible because the space is limited. A network expert explains that only systems that were purchased very cheaply and installed themselves paid for themselves after a few years. Still a win for the environment, the DW report concludes.
