The Miami Police Department is currently investigating a bold robbery that took place in the early hours of Tuesday, March 19, at the Maison Wrist Aficionado store located within the Setai Hotel in Miami Beach. Security images obtained by authorities showed two individuals loading a whopping 60 bags into two large garbage containers outside the luxury store.
Upon arrival, officers discovered clear evidence of a well-executed heist at the store, with the front door left wide open. Surveillance footage revealed that one of the suspects, sporting black pants and a yellow jacket, arrived in a stolen van and proceeded to pick the locks on the front door before making off with the stolen goods.
The stolen items were later identified as 60 Hermes Birkin bags, valued at a staggering $1.8 million. These luxury bags are known for their high price tags, with some models fetching prices that exceed six figures.
Authorities managed to apprehend one of the suspects in connection with the robbery. The thieves made their escape in separate vehicles, one of which had been reported stolen, while the other was linked to a previous robbery in another part of the state. Thanks to the license plate numbers, the police were able to track down one of the suspects, identified as Garcia, in Olympia Heights.
Following his arrest, Garcia confessed to the crime and disclosed details of a similar jewelry theft he committed back in May 2023. The involvement of luxury brand Hermes in these crimes is unsettling, considering the reputation and exclusivity of the coveted Birkin bags.
