Socialists gathered in Madrid to support Pedro Sánchez

Militants from socialist groups from all over Spain gather this Saturday around the party’s headquarters in Madrid, to demonstrate their support for the president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchezafter his decision to cancel his agenda for five days to reflect on his future as head of the Executive.

The concentration takes place coinciding with the celebration of the Federal Committee of the formation, the highest body of the party between congresses, which Sánchez will not attend, and which initially had the objective of ratifying the list for the European elections on June 9, headed by the third vice president of the Executive, Teresa Ribera.

The Committee has become a meeting of support for the President of the Government, who last Wednesday communicated, in a letter to the citizens, his intention to retire to reflect on whether it was worth continuing in office after a Madrid court admitted to processing a complaint filed against his wife, Begoña Gómez, for alleged influence peddling.

The complainant is the self-proclaimed far-right “Manos Cleans” union, whose general secretary, Miguel Bernad, admitted shortly after that its action was based on journalistic information, for whose veracity or not those who published it will be responsible..

Upon his arrival at the Federal Committee this Saturday, some of the socialist leaders conveyed to the media their unwavering support for Sánchez.
