The carabinieri surprised the sixty-one-year-old pensioner who ended up under house arrest
MURAVERA. He was caught with “clams in the bag” by the carabinieri of the Muravera station during a night service to check the territory for preventive purposes ordered by Major Massimo Meloni, commander of the San Vito company.
The thief, a sixty-one-year-old pensioner from Muravera, who almost certainly intended to use shellfish to prepare a succulent spaghetti for Easter lunch, would have gotten away with it had he not been surprised by the carabinieri. The episode took place last night in the regional state-owned lagoon of San Giovanni, located about 4 km from the town of Sarrabus, in concession to the fishermen’s cooperative of the same name as the lagoon.
The pensioner, arrested on charges of aggravated theft, at the end of the formalities, as ordered by the magistrate on duty, the prosecutor Rossana Allieri, at the end of the ritual formalities was placed in his home under house arrest. The judge validated the arrest, accepted the request for deadlines in defense presented by the pensioner’s lawyer, and ordered his release pending the next hearing. (Gian Carlo Bulla)
