Alaska Residents Receive State Stimulus Check
Alaska residents have begun receiving their annual stimulus checks in the form of the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD). The PFD is a financial aid program that has been providing monetary support to the state’s inhabitants for many years, funded by the revenue generated from the exploitation of Alaska’s natural resources.
The Alaska Department of Revenue has announced that the amount of the stimulus check for 2023 is $1,312.00 USD. Residents who meet the eligibility requirements will continue to receive their checks throughout the year, with payments being distributed according to a schedule planned by the department.
To qualify for the stimulus check, individuals must be permanent residents of Alaska and must not have a criminal record. The department has set up a website where eligible recipients can check their payment status and find information about the distribution schedule.
Adam Crum, the commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue, praised the efforts of officials in organizing the payment schedule and processing claims. He noted that there was an increase in the number of applications for the PFD in 2023, with 8 thousand more requests compared to the previous year.
The 2023 budget for the PFD program is nearly $1 billion dollars, which is expected to stimulate economic development in the state. For over four decades, Alaska residents have benefited from the profits of the state’s oil fields, thanks to the initiative of former governor Jay Hammond, who was the driving force behind the Alaska PFD.
