SUSEGANA. “Luckily they put him in, I hope he stays in prison, they don’t send him out.” Lino Cantieri, a 78-year-old pensioner from Ponte della Priula, knew the Moroccan who robbed him. At first he had trusted him, enough to lend him the car and drive around together. But then the car had also torn it to pieces in an accident. Youssef Msatfi, 27, was arrested by the Carabinieri of Conegliano on Wednesday, accused of having carried out three robberies in Ponte della Priula, including two against the 78-year-old.

“I found him in my room at 6 in the morning, since that time I have not slept at night”, says the old man. The Maghreb is accused of having entered the house at dawn on 23 April to steal some change and food, violently pushing the pensioner onto the bed. Instead, on May 5, while Lino was sitting watching television, he tore a 50 euro banknote from his shirt pocket, threatening him that he would beat him if he reported the incident. «I didn’t want to know anymore when I learned that he had drug problems – says Lino Cantieri-. Once we went to Mestre together, on a curve he hit a pole with my car, then he ran away. I had to throw the car away ». The old man perhaps at first took pity on that young man, but then he realized that he was exploiting him and where the money was going. However, he wants to specify one thing: «His mother is a good woman, she works, she is a worker. And when she comes home she prepares food for the whole family. “

As if to say that the problem does not derive from who raised him, but more likely from the “bad company” frequented by the young man. The twenty-seven-year-old also has to answer for a robbery that took place on April 5, always at home, to the detriment of a sixty-five-year-old. He had stolen 180 euros in cash, from his jacket and wallet, yanking him and injuring his shoulder and neck. “If you call the carabinieri, I’ll come back to see you and I’ll really hurt you,” the criminal had threatened.
