“Launch of the ladybugs” for the children of the Acquamarina di Viserba and for the IVD of the primary school Flavia Casadei.

Special lessons in the open air, to learn good practices for energy saving, for sustainability, for biodiversity. There are more and more initiatives that see schools involved in environmental education projects, in synergy with local bodies and associations, to raise awareness of how the protection of nature and the world in which we live passes also and above all from individual daily behavior.

An example of this is the school competition entitled “Be echo! No waste”, promoted by the Istituto Comprensivo Centro Storico as leader of the Green Schools of the Municipality of Rimini to involve students in making concrete gestures in respect of the environment and the school community. All primary and lower secondary school students are committed to reducing electricity consumption by turning off the lights, PCs and digital screens, as well as sorting waste, reducing the use of paper and using the recycled one, and finally using sustainable means to reach the school. To stand out in the competition the class 2C of lower secondary school Panziniawarded a few days ago by the councilor for Ecological Transition Anna Montini, and who in addition to receiving a special diploma had the opportunity to participate in a naturalistic excursion along the path that starts from via Covignano, guided by the volunteers of the CAI, section of Rimini, to discover the territory and the treasures it holds.

The Panzini boys also stood out for another merit: in fact, 3rd B was awarded as the class that more than all the others used low environmental impact methods of travel – on foot, by bike, by bus – to reach the own school. The initiative is part of the regional project Mobile sportsto promote the habit of using sustainable means of transport for home-work and home-school journeys, for example through initiatives such as the piedibus.

Always exciting there “liberation” of ladybugs, an initiative promoted by Anthea which aims to convey to children and students the importance of defending biodiversity and protecting public health at the same time. In fact, the launch of ladybugs is a biological control technique against parasites that affect plants and flowers, in particular they counteract the presence of aphids that particularly affect lime trees and roses. The initiative which involved the Acquamarina nursery school in Viserba and the 4D class of Flavia Casadei, with the presence of volunteer readers from the Gambalunga library who read picture books on insects and nature. The project saw Anthea distribute 120 bottles containing more than twenty ladybugs, which the children, after learning the technique, launched together with their parents in the gardens of their homes or in the parks of their neighbourhood. The initiative is part of the regional project to combat the tiger mosquito and which involves pupils, families and residents in a participatory way to reduce their presence in private gardens. A door to door that becomes the word of good practices.
