The working table for the internationalization of industries in the biotechnology sector, desired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, begins today: a first concrete follow-up to the conference on emerging biotechnologies, hosted at the Farnesina last 14 November.
“With more than 800 companies, 14 thousand employees, over 13 billion in turnover and a strong Research and Development component, the Italian biotechnology sector is experiencing a phase of notable development and represents an important driving force for growth in sectors with increasingly high added value”, declared Minister Tajani.
The establishment of the table, called to formulate strategies and recommendations regarding the internationalization of the players active in the field of biotechnology to strengthen the entire national sector, “reflects the attention that the Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, places on the international development of supply chains innovative and emerging technologies, within the framework of Growth Diplomacy”, according to Tajani.
The table sees the presence of representatives of institutions, research centers, companies, trade associations and the financial world. Among others, as moderator, Pierluigi Paracchi, CEO of Genenta and member of the Executive Committee of Federchimica-Assobiotec; Pierluigi Petrone, Vice President of Farmindustria; Giovanni Caforio, Executive Chairman of Bristol Myers Squibb; Maria Cristina Porta, General Director of the ENEA Tech and Biomedical Foundation; Giuseppe Gigli, Director of the CNR-Nanotec Nanotechnology Institute; Rino Rappuoli, Scientific Director of the Siena Biotecnopolo Foundation; Gianmario Verona, president of Human Technolpole. Representatives of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, the Ministry of University and Research and the ICE Agency will also take part.
