Guaranteeing security in the rural area to prevent the displacement of communities was the main request made by the governor of Arauca Renson Martínez Prada in the Security Council in order to take immediate actions against the acts of alteration of public order that have been generated in the first three months of the year.

During the council, the president gave instructions to the Public Force to increase security in the territory and guarantee the right to life of the people in these communities and to work in an articulated manner between the entities to achieve this goal.

“It is not possible that there are serious and constant violations of the right to life, integrity, security and freedom for citizens in our Department. We must not allow these types of events to become normal in our region. I have given instructions so that actions that contribute to peace in the territory can be carried out from the departmental administration and through the Peace Office.”

Likewise, the Governor indicated that the institutions should not give veracity to the statements made by the illegal armed groups and demanded that the corresponding authorities accelerate the investigations that make it possible to determine the responsibility of each of the structures in order to prosecute and capture them. those responsible for the selective murders, in addition to guaranteeing the safety of each of the municipal officials.

The president pointed out that the public force committed to increasing the presence of uniformed personnel in rural areas and on the road that leads from Arauca to the municipality of Tame.

“We need to make visible the situation that the Department is experiencing, we recently sent a letter to President Gustavo Petro to make an urgent call for the intervention of the National Government in terms of taking actions that guarantee the life and integrity of the inhabitants of the territory and protect the social leaders in the development of their activities,” indicated Martínez Prada.

At the same time that the security council was being held, the departmental Peace advisor Javier Esneider Triana and the Secretary of Education Ariel Pedraza Pinzón met with the delegate for Arauca of the High Commissioner for Peace Luis Eduardo Celis, to combine strategies that contribute to the construction of mechanisms that strengthen resilience, coexistence and conflict resolution.

One of the first actions will be to hold a meeting with the Peace Council of the municipality of Tame on April 4, to listen to the voices of one of the communities most affected by the conflict. The Department’s Peace Advisor insisted on the need for the High Commissioner to be present in the territory and accept the people’s requests.
