Taps prohibited: after Arsiè, salmonella was also found in Ponte nelle Alpi

The fire brigade tanker positioned in Cadola to supply the residents with clean water

Tank trucks until next week: it takes a few days for the results of the new analyzes on the samples taken in the morning after chlorination

BRIDGE IN THE ALPS. Salmonella is the bacterial agent found in the water of the Cima i Pra ‘fountain that triggered the stop to the use of tap water in most of the municipal area of Ponte nelle Alpi on Tuesday evening. provoking from diarrhea to typhoid fever was found in the Feltre area of Arsiè but not, it must be said, in the water of the Pontalpine fraction of Arsiè.

The announcement of the presence of salmonella also in Ponte came in the afternoon of today, April 20, from Ulss 1 Dolomiti, which physically carries out the analyzes on the samples taken periodically from the water network managed by Bim Gsp. Until that moment, the official communications regarding the Pontalpine situation, including the municipal ordinance signed in the morning with the prohibition of the use of water for food purposes on most of the municipal territory, cited a generic “discrepancy in the microbiological parameters of the aqueduct municipal “.

From Tuesday evening, in any case, there are two tankers stationed uninterruptedly in Ponte nelle Alpi – in the market square overlooking Viale Dolomiti and in front of the church of Cadola – where citizens can independently refuel unpolluted water from the agent. bacterial.

For both territories, Ponte nelle Alpi and Arsiè, there is now a wait of four or five days before understanding whether the water can be declared drinkable again. Already on Tuesday, the public services management reported, the technicians of the Bim company carried out a consistent chlorination in the two aqueducts and this morning two new control samples were carried out to verify if the intervention was effective.
We will therefore have to wait until next week – given the need for four or five days to have the results of the checks on the water taken yesterday – before being able to declare tap water usable again. In the meantime, we will continue with the water from the tankers – or bottled water – for drinking and cooking.

The ban on the use of water for food use concerns a large part of the municipal area of Ponte nelle Alpi, including the most populous hamlets, namely Polpet and Cadola. On the other hand, you can continue to drink tap water safely in Nuova Erto and in the hamlets of Cugnan, Col di Cugnan, Maraschiata, Losego, Roncan, Cornolade, Quantin, Vich, Casan, Soccher, Reveane, Arsiè, Paiane.
