Due to a technical problem, baggage handling was disrupted for a while at Brussels Airport on Tuesday morning. As a result, a number of flights left without luggage, spokeswoman Ihsane Chioua Lekhli confirmed.

The problem occurred with the central baggage system, which impacted flights from several airlines. “The technical problem meant that less luggage could be processed, which meant that not all travelers’ luggage could be loaded. This will then also be sent further,” said the spokeswoman.

It is currently unknown how many affected flights are involved. According to Brussels Airport, there was only a problem for the luggage of departing flights, there was no impact on arriving flights. The problem should also have been resolved in the meantime, allowing the system to restart gradually. “We will then clear the backlog,” he said.

Travelers whose luggage has not arrived at their destination are advised to contact their airline. “We are working with our partners to resolve the problem as quickly as possible and do our utmost to deliver the delayed baggage as quickly as possible,” it said.
