MOBILITY – Deputy Mayor Lodi: “Long journey, we are starting to see the finish line”
Preliminary consent was given, during the Municipal Council today, Tuesday 23 January 2024, for the approval of the definitive project in order to create a stretch of cycle path on the Montalbano state road, from via Lampone to the access road to the sports field. After the Council, the act will therefore reach the City Council for final approval.
The intervention will be developed largely along the SS64 without, however, modifying its surface, as the planned works are configured beyond the protective safety barrier located at the edge of the roadway.
The work will consist of the creation of a section of cycle/pedestrian path for a total length of 65 metres, which will connect Via Lampone and Via Bologna. The first stretch of track – approximately 35 meters on the Via Lampone side – will be located adjacent to the area owned by the Parish of Sant’Antonio da Padova, while the remainder – on the Via Bologna side – will be built on a square owned by the Municipality. The project will also include maintenance of a further existing section along the SS64 connecting Via Lampone and Via Bologna.
The overall cost of the works for the construction of the cycle path is over 162 thousand euros. The overall project, with the first batch of investments of over 97 thousand euros used for the redevelopment of the courtyard area of the “La Scuola” center (already completed in spring 2023), has an amount of 260 thousand euros and is financed with the Administration surplus applied to the 2020 budget forecast.
The approval of the final project will entail the affixing of the pre-arranged constraint on the expropriation, the declaration of public utility of the work, the non-deferrability and urgency of the same.
“The Montalbano cycle path – he explains the deputy mayor and councilor for the hamlets Nicola Lodi – it is a work deeply felt by the citizens of the hamlet. The path to creating the infrastructure was quite long, but finally – with preliminary approval – we are starting to see the goal, which is to give residents a completely safe, new and functional cycle/pedestrian path. The track is part of a larger project, which saw the investment of 260 thousand euros, both for the construction of the route and for restoring access to the “La Scuola” social center, a fundamental aggregation center for the hamlet” .
