Do you remember the famous controversy about the “crafty” – now the most abused word together with “resilience” – of the 600 euro bonus? After months of fierce controversy and hunting for politicians who had, in many cases inappropriately, requested the compensation reserved for VAT numbers due to the Covid crisis, it turns out that in that affair the only thing contrary to the rules was the Inps. The Privacy Guarantor imposed a 300,000 euro fine on the Institute “in relation to the violations committed as part of the anti-fraud investigations carried out by the Institute regarding the Covid bonus for VAT numbers”. In carrying out those checks, INPS did not define the criteria for processing the data of specific categories, it made use of “unnecessary information with respect to the control purposes”, as well as an “inadequate assessment of privacy risks”.
