This is the announcement to the general public to evacuate Shanghai after the United States issued an evacuation order for diplomats.

The U.S. Embassy in China announced on April 15 that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (LPRs), foreign citizens with valid U.S. immigrant visas, and U.S. citizens Non-immigrant foreign nationals traveling with or LPR and holding valid travel documents that allow them to travel to the U.S. are not required to provide CCP virus prior to boarding a flight to the U.S. as long as they leave Shanghai by the evening of May 11 ET (COVID-19) negative test certificate or recovery document.

This is a statement issued to ordinary people evacuating Shanghai after the evacuation order was issued to the staff of the US Consulate General in Shanghai since the city was closed due to the epidemic. The statement applies not only to U.S. citizens, but foreign citizens as well.

Some Chinese netizens on Twitter lamented this, saying that this is helping Shanghai citizens flee to the United States, and the United States once again helped Shanghai people with a broad mind.

Prior to that, on April 11, the U.S. State Department had ordered the evacuation of non-emergency personnel from the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai and reminded U.S. citizens to reconsider traveling to China.
