The Latin American Free Software Installation Festival will be held in Pereira

On May 16, the Technological University of Pereira will host the Latin American Free Software Installation Festival (FLISOL), an event that promises to be a key meeting point for technology and free software enthusiasts. The festival will offer a series of presentations and an ‘Installation’ in block 13 of the institution, covering a wide range of topics ranging from web and software development, to animation and video games.

This event not only seeks to attract people with diverse technological interests, but also to encourage the formation of a community where attendees can interact, get to know each other, and create strategic alliances. The active participation of research groups from the university, who will offer talks and conferences, will provide an exclusive platform for participants to discover different areas of interest and explore new opportunities.

Andrés Manuel Prieto, systems engineer and festival coordinator, said that this year they will have 19 speakers and around 600 attendees: “This year we have a very powerful roaster of people, we have people who have been working with a language called flutter, There are people who have worked at Reddit, at Spotify, people who work with Disney, and we also have people who work with Unity Pereira.”

For her part, Ana Beltrán, systems engineer and graphic designer, highlighted that it is an event open to the entire community: “You don’t have to be a professional developer or have a master’s degree, or even be studying an Engineering degree to participate, guys. “Those who are interested in software development, who want to know how it works, first semesters, schools can also go, it is completely free and open to the public.”
