The #Let’s make the difference — Environment project enters its final phase

The educational project enters its final phase #Let’s make a differencepromoted by the Union of Municipalities of Lower Romagna in collaboration with «The great machine of the world», the environmental education program of the Hera Group.

The project saw the participation of 44 primary and lower secondary school classes in a complex educational path based on the concept and mechanics of the educational game.

#Let’s make the difference aims to actively involve students, teachers and families in the creation of a socially and economically sustainable development model, promoting collective participation towards virtuous behaviour. The objective is to discourage the abandonment of waste and increase the quality of separate waste collection, promote more awareness in behavior and purchases, increase sociability and knowledge of the environmental services present in the territory of the Union of Municipalities of Lower Romagna.

After an introductory meeting, designed as a quiz challenge, the students were able to evaluate their sustainability practices, weighing with scales and recording on special grids the quantity of waste produced in the classroom and subsequently putting into practice virtuous behaviors to discover how much they can do the difference with one’s actions. At the end of the two weeks of recording the weight of the waste produced, it will be assessed which class has succeeded in reducing the quantity of undifferentiated waste and increasing the quality of separated waste collection. Families will be involved in activities to help children accumulate points and find the “very rejected” people who often stay in homes.

Once the weighing cycles have been completed, the educators will collect the school data collection posters and at the same time they will begin delivering the three reams of paper to which each class is entitled for participation in the project. The top three in each school level will receive further prizes and personalized gadgets for the students.
