ALESSANDRIA DELLA ROCCA – The mayor of Alessandria della Rocca, Giovanna Bubello, has resigned. In a letter sent to the prefect of Agrigento and the regional councilor for local authorities, Bubello speaks of “changes in the political framework”, perhaps referring to the decision of three majority councilors who have decided to go to the opposition.
Bubello, a school director, was elected in 2019 with a civic list. The previous year she had been the only candidate for mayor, but the turnout did not reach the necessary quorum of 50 percent of those eligible, and as a result that election was invalidated. Now the Region will have to appoint an extraordinary commissioner to lead the town of three thousand inhabitants towards new elections.
