The mayor of Montebelluna expropriates himself to make the traffic island: “It’s right like this”

At the intersection of via Bartolini and viale De Gasperi, more space is needed, also to create a sidewalk. He does not participate in condominium meetings and sends the lawyer: “Expropriate a piece of garden”

MONTEBELLUNA. The mayor expropriates himself. There is indeed also Elzo Severin among the condominiums owners of the area that will be expropriated to fix the intersection between viale Bartolini and via De Gasperi and create a piece of pavement. The mayor of Montebelluna in fact has his own medical clinic on the ground floor of the condominium from which a piece of land will be expropriated to widen the intersection, creating a small traffic island in that section of the miniput. The sidewalk will also be built along a stretch of Via De Gasperi.

It was a practice started by his predecessor, Marzio Favero, completed in these days by Elzo Severin in order to proceed with the declaration of public utility and expropriation as a matter of urgency. The works, however, will arrive in the autumn, because the competition will start in July. The mayor had no hesitation in presiding over the council meeting which proceeded to re-approve the final project for an update of the documents.

Indeed, he had always avoided attending condominium assemblies when it came to discussing this expropriation. And so now, as mayor, he expropriates himself together with the other condominiums in the complex on the corner of viale Bertolini and via De Gasperi.

“In the end, the corner of the area and one meter wide along Via De Gasperi is expropriated,” explains Elzo Severin. “Rightly so. Precisely to avoid possible conflicts of interest, I never participated in condominium meetings where this expropriation was discussed and I always delegated the lawyer to do so. Francesco TartiniHe concluded.
