Nomaglio loses the only shop in the town as well as an important piece of history. After about a century of activity, in fact, the historic Civallero mini-market closes. The owners, brother and sister who had carried on the food resale opened by their grandfather at the beginning of the last century in the town center and then moved in front of the town hall, greeted their customers on Friday 2 July, lowering the price for the last time. gate valve. News received very badly in the town, as confirmed by the mayor Ellade Peller: «With the closure of the minimarket, Nomaglio’s excellence is no longer there, but above all the resale service of bread, food and basic necessities. The latter is a problem that we are trying to solve as soon as possible ».

At the moment the nomagliesi, just under three hundred, are forced to fold in the shops of the neighboring villages, in particular Borgofranco and Settimo Vittone. “Those who are unable to move – adds Peller – rely on the availability of relatives and friends through solidarity and the neighborhood network that, fortunately, has always distinguished our community”. Meanwhile, the municipal administration has set in motion to rent the premises in Piazza Allamanno, which until a few years ago housed the social oven. After closing in February 2015, the structure was renovated and reopened the following year, three days a week, as part of a project promoted by the Alce blu cooperative, with the intervention of the Copernicus Consortium and the collaboration of the Municipality. The initiative, which ran out in a short time, was aimed at the job placement of disadvantaged people. The premises of the former social oven are located in a portion of a building intended for commercial use, located on the ground floor of a building partly owned by the municipality and partly by the parish of San Bartolomeo. The net surface is approximately 47 square meters, divided into two sales rooms, a storage room, a toilet and a changing room. «We will proceed with the leasing of the spaces by public notice. Our goal is to restart the service in September, even if we fear that there is no great interest in a small company like ours ». Hence the decision to start with an auction base of only 100 euros per month, an almost symbolic figure. In the meantime, in the small mountain village the services available are reduced to the post office (open every other day), to the Burnel restaurant and bar and to a recently opened agricultural activity. –
