The governor of Casanare, César Ortiz Zorro, led a working group with the Minister of Transportation, Willian Camargo, to address crucial issues related to road connectivity in the region.

“Investment in road infrastructure is essential to improve connectivity between Casanare and Boyacá, and to promote progress and development in the region. It is crucial to have a solid and efficient road network. We have a commitment to development and we are going to find it on the roads of these departments,” said Ortiz Zorro.

During the meeting, several important projects that are underway were discussed:

1. Vado Hondo – Labranzagrande – La Cabuya Project (Part of the Bicentennial Pact): This 78 km project has a total estimated cost of $230 billion. In 2021, Invias entered into a work contract that exceeds $158 billion and involves the intervention of 21 kilometers. Currently, this project has a progress of 13.16%, with 1.12 kilometers paved to date.

2. Los Libertadores Route (Also part of the Bicentennial Pact): This 233 km road corridor faces challenges in terms of progress. In 2021, a work contract was signed for a value exceeding $342 billion for the intervention of 46 km, of which only 3 have been completed. This delay compromises the ability to effectively connect these regions with the rest from the country.

3. Transversal del Cusiana: This 118 km road marks the limit between Boyacá and Casanare at kilometer 91, and faces emergencies that demand additional resources and urgent attention, such as bridge collapses and critical points that threaten to hinder progress in the region .

Casanare and Boyacá.
